When Pantone announced Classic Blue as its color of the year for 2020, its description as an enduring blue hue bringing “a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit” immediately brought to mind its possible calming effect on brides. As well, we feel it ties in nicely with the “something blue” adage, and its choice and description is a fun addition to the product knowledge story you tell your brides! This is how Beatrice Esieman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, describes the color:
“Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge. Aiding concentration and bringing laser-like clarity, Classic Blue re-centers our thoughts. A reflective blue tone, Classic Blue fosters resilience.”
And it’s versatile in its use, as for a traditional wedding, or as a foundational color beautifully mixed with other complementing tones.
Consequently we approached a number of designers and brands to submit style images of dresses in that blue. And though this Color of the Year was announced long past the time designers chose their color palates, they do offer dresses that if not the exact color come pretty close.
