A GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to purchase KN95 masks and isolation gowns for donation to New York City hospitals dangerously short of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been launched and spearheaded by Alan Dessy, Dessy Group.
The campaign, Import KN95 and isolation gowns from Asia, was created yesterday with a goal of raising $200,000. As of this afternoon, 106 donors have pledged $6,611.
“Our heroic doctors, nurses and hospital staff are putting their lives on the line to save ours, but NYC hospitals are dangerously short on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE),” writes Dessy in the campaign statement.
“We plan to immediately import protective masks and gowns for the selfless healthcare workers in NYC from our trusted factory partners in Asia, who have responded to our plea for assistance in sourcing and manufacturing KN95 masks and isolation gowns.”
An update posted today indicated that 11,000 masks will be shipped March 24, and when received will be distributed to NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City.
