The questions on everyone’s mind these days are simple to ask but a bit tricky to answer succinctly:
Where were all the brides in 2024? And what should we anticipate for 2025?
To try to answer those questions, senior staff writer Daniel Smith dug into census reports, health statistics, demographic trends and any amount of research exploring the motivations and buying habits of brides this year. . . with an eye toward making predictions as to 2025.
His conclusions in brief confirm the lower number of brides nationally this past season, and a bit of optimism as to what we can expect for the kick off of the 2025 season next month.
His full article entitled The State of Brides appears on page 38 of our November/December issue.
As we reviewed his piece, it became obvious that a detailed checklist of steps to take now in preparation of the engagement season was not only timely but a natural extension. . . we’ve provided insights into the bride’s mindset, and what we should do now to fully prepare.
Which you’ll also find in this issue, entitled Nine Steps to a Stronger 2025 appearing on page 50 in a format that is quickly read and absorbed as it offers tips for virtually every aspect of bridal retail.
And just in case you’ve been thinking we’re a little too serious about the economy and industry these days, we offer a multipage pictorial of your store and company mascots and companions… those furry and feathered friends that greet and entertain and provide companionship that is often part of your brand.
As we head into the holiday season, we at VOWS wish you peace and joy. . . and the time to reflect on all that is good and gracious in our lives.

Peace.
